The new year is upon us and many of us like to to make some changes in January. Having a hairstyle change is a great way to treat yourself to a little pick me up during the dark, gloomy evenings post Christmas.
Here are a few tips and suggestions to help you achieve the hair of your dreams with your favourite stylist.
We are a very friendly bunch here at the Painted Lady so feel free to bring along some images of your dream hair to help explain your hair goals. Try Pinterest We find it’s a great tool to brainstorm and create moodboards and find inspiration. Check out the Painted Lady pinterest here.
We want to make sure we are on the same page as you before we start the journey. So here are a few questions that your stylist should ask you about your hair ambitions.
What do you like/love about your hair?
We certainly don’t want to change what you love about your hair.
What don’t you like about your hair or what do you want to change about your hair?
When was the last time you had it cut/coloured?
This is so we can get an idea of how short it was last time you had it cut or how much the colour has faded and even how quickly it grows.
How much time do you have to spend on your hair in the morning?
This is an important question, because some styles take a lot of blowdrying and styling in the mornings. We really want you to be able to recreate your style at home and if your a low maintenance kinda person we don’t want to be committing you to a life-time of ‘early rises’ so you can style your hair. 😉
How do you style your hair? Do you use any products?
How often do you wash your hair?
This might seem like a weird question, but if you are having a colour change, the frequency that you shampoo your hair can have an effect on how long your colour lasts.
Questions to ask us…
How long will it take?
Some colour services are a lot more in depth… Some people stay with us all day at the salon to achieve that perfect pink platinum or rainbow hair!!
what is the upkeep for this style/colour?
Do I need a patch test?
Yes! Definitely and in some cases a strand test to make sure your hair can be coloured safely.
Is it permanent colour?
If it is then just be aware that all colour fades to some extent.
How much will it cost?
Fancy having a change? Mention this post when you book for £15 off your new do in January.
